A Long Time Coming

Goodness! This post is a long time coming. I didn't realize it had been since May - May  - that I posted. There has been so much going on! I will just get to the point. First Day of School So the first day of school happened in August. It was great.  Jack is in 3rd grade and now rides the bus to school. Our neighborhood only has "one" school, but it is so big it was split into a Primary and Intermediate building.  Because the Intermediate school is on the other side of the main road, there is a bus that will take him from the Primary school and bring him back. It's been great so far. Logan is in 1st grade and is adjusting to being at school all day (9-4) which has been tough for him. But he's a trooper and will persevere. He is still in vision therapy, but we are in the home stretch for this round! Hopefully only 10 more weeks. Spencer and I are working on letters, matching, and other Preschool activities but he is at home doing it. Maybe he will ...

It's Been a While

Greetings! It has been quite a while since my last post. It seems that things happen in clusters and then after a while I have time to sit down and tell you all about it. Mining Museum St. Patrick Mustachios at Nonie's House March was a great month that went by too quickly.  We made a trip down to Walsenburg for Spring Break and for Jack's birthday. Scott was not able to come, but we had fun nonetheless. I took the kids to the mining museum, and they had a really good time there. It is hard to grasp that Jack is already eight. Can you believe this blog started over eight years ago?? Pokemon Cake  Easter has also come and gone. We had a small but very nice Easter weekend. Colored the eggs with the kiddos (we had to buy quite a few eggs).  All four of them had a good time coloring eggs.  We also went to the neighborhood egg hunt (fun!), and on Easter we headed over to Robert's house for a nice Easter Brunch.  It was a great weekend. ...

American Heart Association, Solar Panels, and More!

Greetings! I hope you have been having a good day. Things have been busy here. And yes, I have not updated any photos to last months' blog yet. Lots of stuff has been going on. We shared buying a cow with a friend from work. It was an overwhelming amount of beef (filled our deep freeze). That said, it's an economical way to feed six people and it is very tasty. We also decided to go Solar and our panels were installed this month. We are very excited about saving money by making our own electricity. Solar City has been very helpful and professional and we had a great experience with them. I wouldn't say the panels add to the aesthetics of our house, but they are going to serve a great purpose. :) Also of note, the school is having a fundraiser for the PE program, sponsored/run by the American Heart Association. It's tricky because both kids are fundraising separately.  If you are interested here are their individual links. Jack: http://jumphoops2017swa.kinter...

What a Month

Boy, do I have a lot to say this month. And it's not even halfway over! In birthday news, January had two special birthdays for us (not to mention 3 other awesome family members!). Scott and Spencer have both celebrated their birthdays already. Scott turned...A year older ;D and Spencer turned 3. We had a fun family party for him the Saturday before his birthday. It was great to see all the cousins playing. Scott's Birthday Pie Happy Birthday Spencer!  In other news, Logan is seeing improvement in his vision therapy. We are so excited about it. Jack is also benefiting from therapy, and we hope he can stop going soon. But wait! There's more! After a lot of discernment over the winter break, we enrolled Jack and Logan in away school this week. This was their first week and they seem to really enjoy it, despite the huge change in our routine. Spencer and Duncan are enjoying the extra Mom time. They both attend the school near our house this year so...

Remember, Remember to Post in November

So, I sort of forgot to post in October. There wasn't too much going on. I will have to wait on October photos, because you might see them later on in December. Just sayin'. I did have a birthday, of which there are also no pictures (because I take them all), and it was peaceful and fun. Just the way I like it. November has come and gone, and I totally missed posting. Argh! How is it already December 1st? Oh well. We had a busy month. In happy news, we spent Thanksgiving in Walsenburg and got to see quite a bit of my mom's family. It was so fun to see everyone. It was also crazy with seven kids under 7, and *insert Dena counting on her fingers** 12 adults. Crazy, but super fun. So crazy in fact that I only have a couple of pictures, and not even of all the kids.  But I will share, regardless. Watching the train on the hill (you really can see it between the houses) Enjoying the outdoors (so warm!!)  So, yep. They were outside a lot - unseasonably warm we...

Happy Happy Birthday Duncan!

Happy 1st Birthday Duncan Garrett!!   So we have finally reached the one year mark with our little Duncan. It is so hard to believe. As our pediatrician told us, this is the part of our lives with long days, and short years. So very true. At any rate, we had a great family celebration over Labor Day weekend. All the boys got to play with their cousins, and we had lots of guests. It was a great way to celebrate Duncan.  We had our visit to the doctor and he is still very tall (75%) and his weight was at about 50%. It is so strange to already be thinking of changing to 18 month clothes because he is too long for the 12 month clothes. Just goes to show that every kid is different. :)    Here are some photos from our fun party. Time for Bubbles with Grandpa Gary, Uncle Robert, and the cousins. More bubble fun with Aunt Natalie Grandma and Nonie, thick as thieves. A fun visit with Antie Marian and Uncle John Birthday pose with Papa ...

Popcorn!

Hello everyone! As most of you probably know, Jack and Logan are both in Cub Scouts this year. While Logan is not part of the fundraising for the Pack, Jack and I both are and it is that time of year! We have started selling our Trails End Popcorn, Coffee, and Chocolate (it's true, I looked). Even if you don't want any of the treats, you can donate and the treats will be sent to troops or veterans. So it's kind of  a win-win no matter how you slice it. Scouting has been a great way for the boys to meet kids from the neighborhood, grow in character, and develop a sense of leadership and belonging. So many things to try so they can find their talents and discover what the like and dislike. Here is a link to Jack's fundraising web page. You can order directly from the page and it will be sent to you. Please consider helping out Pack 625! Jack's Fundraising Webpage Yours in Scouting, and Until Next Time,
