A Long Time Coming

Goodness!

This post is a long time coming. I didn't realize it had been since May - May - that I posted. There has been so much going on! I will just get to the point.

First Day of School

So the first day of school happened in August. It was great.  Jack is in 3rd grade and now rides the bus to school. Our neighborhood only has "one" school, but it is so big it was split into a Primary and Intermediate building.  Because the Intermediate school is on the other side of the main road, there is a bus that will take him from the Primary school and bring him back. It's been great so far.

Logan is in 1st grade and is adjusting to being at school all day (9-4) which has been tough for him. But he's a trooper and will persevere. He is still in vision therapy, but we are in the home stretch for this round! Hopefully only 10 more weeks.

Spencer and I are working on letters, matching, and other Preschool activities but he is at home doing it. Maybe he will go to pre-kindergarten next year at the school.

Duncan is in speech therapy and he is making some progress. His therapist is great, and she comes to our house which saves me a therapy trip. He isn't quite to 100 words yet but we are learning to understand some of what he is trying to say.

Logan's Birthday

Right after school started it was Logan's birthday. He turned six! We had a fun party with family and it was great to see everyone. Logan still loves babies, rocks, and sea creatures. He wants to be a Dad, a construction worker, and a diver. Big dreams!

Logan found a cherry picker at Vision Therapy - Fun!

First birthday of the school year in his class.

Logan and Antie mining for gems - he loved this present!

Eclipse!

We had planned a trip to Idaho Falls to see the eclipse as soon as we heard about it (and before the kids went to the local school) so we kept our plans, pulled them out of school, and headed up to Idaho for the big event. It. Was. Awesome. If you ever have a chance to see one you need to do it. You just need to. Trust me!  The temperature dropped 20 degrees, it was dark, and everyone was cheering and looking at the sun.

That weekend we also took the boys to Mass at Christ the King where Scott and I met...11 years ago I think?!? The kids thought that was really neat, and another eclipse traveler took our picture for me so I could be in it too.

Where it all began
We had fun there with Uncle Tom and Aunt Jetta. We took the kids to Arctic Circle for some really yummy ice cream and a playland. Something these kids don't see very often.

Now that things are settling down here with school routines being figured out, as well as work routines I am hoping to try to keep up with this better. Duncan't birthday is coming up so maybe new pictures after this weekend.

Hope you are all doing well too.

Until next time.

Cut Out the Middle Man

I t was snack time at the Christensen house and I decided to use up some leftover cream cheese and salsa and chips (just lying around -I promise!!) Jack, as it turns out is new to the world of dipping. I used some of his crunchies and dipped it in the salsa cheese mix. He seemed to enjoy the flavor of it. I went into the kitchen to fix us both a drink and when I came back out I realized that Jack decided he'd had enough of the middle man and went right into dipping with the tools God gave him! I laughed so hard I had to share it with you! No One's Around to Catch Me... E xcep t Mom and her camera... I guess he thought it was good bean dip! He ate the rest of the bowl!!

7 Weeks Old!

All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go! Smile for Daddy! Baby, You Can Drive My Car Well, Little Jack is almost 8 weeks old now.  He has been a busy boy, and we are starting to get into a more regular routine. I think it is good for all involved.  We usually get up about when Daddy does at 5:00.  Sometimes we get another nap after that first meal, but sometimes we don't. And that's OK.   Our new nighttime routine involves bath-time at 7:00 (on bath days) so that he can eat and drift off to sleep and maybe give Mom and Dad an hour before their 9:00 bedtime.   Jack can still usually go 4 hours at night. Sometimes we are unlucky and he gets up every 2 hours.  This is rare now.  Sometimes we are very lucky and  he'll sleep 6 to 8 hours.  Not too often, but it is a taste of things to come.  He is getting really good at holding his head up.  I think he gets bored on some days because you cannot just leave him in his bouncy seat - he cries and cries.  He went into the doctor's last...

Second First: First day of School!

Well, the day finally came. It felt like we waited a long time, but the day arrived quickly nonetheless. The first day of school! Maybe it seemed to come so soon since the kids start school when they are 2 1/2 or 3 now. Guess there's more to learn than when I was a kid, LOL. It was more stressful than I thought to select a school. We visited a few local(ish) schools and finally settled on Holy Cross Lutheran Early Learning Center . It's only 15 minutes away, which is pretty close for where we live. We liked this preschool mainly because of the small size of the classes. And when we took Jack for a tour he seemed the most comfortable. So I guess in the end the choice was pretty simple - I just over worry about things most of the time. So he goes Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 - 12:00. It's an adjustment for all of us, but so far so good. Ready to Leave  That was Jack all ready to go on the first day. Eventually he'll grow into that backpack. B...
