Finished School Desks

Well I have finally completed my desk refinishing project...It was lots of fun and I learned a lot about painting and refinishing. I think I actually do better only having 1 hour increments. Otherwise I find myself hurrying and things tend to get messed up.  Now for an exciting (or not) photo history of the project.  Step one was sand, wash, and prime. After I got the hang of it, I found spray paint easy to use and smooth.    Step two, I sprayed the wooden parts with yellow paint.  Step three, I sprayed the main color on the metal parts. I did have one section where I didn't quite get all the goo gone off and the paint bubbled off. But, resand, rewash, and repaint, and it looks alright.  Finally, I painted the top of the desk with dry-erase paint. Today I touched up where the dry-erase spilled over. In 3 days they will be fully cured and useable. The kids are really excited and I think I did a pretty good job. And Scott can have his garage st...

Even More June

Well, now for even more June. I get lots posted while Spencer eats because I need a break from the book I'm reading and Blogger has a nifty mobile application for my iPod. Here, finally, is Spencer's 5 month picture. I am still slow loading photos off our camera, what with no smart phone and all, LOL.   Also some shots from Jack's first T-ball game of the season. He is having lots of fun this year. In a few games, they start trying to hit pitches from the coach. Should be interesting!    Playing 1st Base Runner! On Deck Logan is growing fast and has become very fond of Spencer. It's cute to watch them interact.  Brothers

Happy Father's Day

What an exciting Father's Day! Scott and I were talking last night, and agreed that if anyone had told us seven years ago we would have three awesome kids we would never have believed it.  But here it is Father's Day with three awesome kids!  This year as a gift, we thought outside the box. Shook things up a bit. Well, he still got the usual computer type gift - we are traditional after all! However, Scott has seen our garden and mentioned that it would be fun to try hydroponic gardening. On a whim I visited the Aerogarden website and they were having a big sale! So we bought Dad a small, starter, 3-plant indoor garden. He has already planted! (The boys chose the penguin garden) It will be great to compare to our outdoor garden. And it's another great life science teaching tool to boot. We may have green thumbs after all!  Happy Father's Day to all the Dads we know and love! Until next time...

June Update

Friends! June has been a fun month for us. Peaceful compared to the last few months. I am grateful for that. Mostly small news, but I have some good photos to share! Boat Ride at Elitch Garden This month was Lockheed Martin day at Elitch Gardens. It wasn't super awesome, but the boys had a good time riding the boat ride (above) and getting Spiderman balloon art.  It was a strange day. The park was "open" two hours early for Lockheed employees, but there was literally only ONE ride open - the boat the kids rode. So we left after about an hour since they would not have been able to wait one more hour for stuff to open. But we had a fun time and at least it was free! SpiderBaby Balloon Hats This month Spencer turned 5 months old. He's getting so big! He had his first try at food on the 9th. He was pretty excited, but I think he may have been a bit disappointed in the taste (compared to milk). I'm sure he will come around eventually. We all love t...

Fuzzy Wuzzy Was a Bear

Well I'm here to say our friend Fuzzy did have hair. Very shaggy hair in fact. We had heard he was in the neighborhood. In fact he was in Scott's parent's garage last week. He made an appearance in our neighbor's garage as well. So Spencer and I were enjoying waking up early. Sitting in the kitchen, me with my coffee...Spencer with his fingers. When something jumped our (not tall) back fence. That's not too unusual. There's an orange cat who loves our sunny berm. But it was way bigger. At first I wondered if it was our neighbor's dog or a raccoon. No. It was a bear!  Since it was out and I was in the event was kind of exciting. I still called the police. A Sheriffs deputy came and knocked. He said there was a Mom and three cubs around. Fish & Wildlife called and said to report sightings. They are keeping watch to see what they do.  I guess that's ok. But I kind of don't feel I can let the kids play outside. This is just a side effect ...

Merry, Merry Month of May

Greetings again! May has been a fun month for us.  Here are some of the highlights: Spencer turned 4 months old! WOW. He is doing great and growing like a weed. At this month's checkup he was 24 1/2 inches tall and 14 lb 8 oz.  He's such a happy baby and loves watching his big brothers play in the living room. I know it will be lots of fun when they can all play together. 4 Months!  Also, we celebrated Jack's PreKndergarten graduation. It's hard to believe he's already finished with preschool!! They had a fun ceremony. The kids sang a few songs. Then one by one the kids got up and told their career ambitions - Jack wants to be a firefighter. Then finally they walked across and received their diplomas. So cute! Jack even threw his hat up at the end. It was very special. Jack was both excited for the future, and sad to leave Holy Cross and his school friends who will go to different schools. It was a chaotic day, as Scott, Spencer and I went straight from...
