Two Month Check-up

I Love Bath Time! Sittin' in my lounge chair, watching Mom fold clothes Greeting one and all.  What an exciting week we've had already!  Our Memorial Day weekend was just as we like it.  Fun and relaxing.  We did most of our errands and chores on Friday and Saturday.  Jack was really well behaved on our shopping adventures.  Sunday and Monday we took it easy.  It was nice enough to eat lunch outside both those days, so that was fun for all three of us.  Jack is doing great. He loves bath-time (for now).  He is getting a lot better at falling asleep on his own both for naps and especially at this bedtime.  It has helped his "colic" quite a bit to get enough sleep.  Not 100% gone, but much improved. Today Jack had his two month checkup with immunizations. The best part of the shots were the five Tweety-bird Band-Aids he has on his chubby little legs.  But he did O.K. considering.  He is doing great as far as his development. Meeting all his milestones and doing all that...

Rock On, Baby!!

I Love Rock and Roll! Check it out! Jack has his first rock t-shirt, courtesy of his Aunt Brenda.  Neat! He also likes to rock out to his Beatles lullaby CD (thanks Aunt Natalie and Uncle Robert) and pretty soon the mailman will bring his Metallica lullaby CD (thanks Dad).  He'll be rocking out like nobody's business.   In other news: I have found an online "store" that is similar to a craft fair.  You can advertise the inventory you have on hand and people looking for hand-made crafts can buy them. I'm going to try it out.  When my "store" is open, I'll add a link to this website.

7 Weeks Old!

All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go! Smile for Daddy! Baby, You Can Drive My Car Well, Little Jack is almost 8 weeks old now.  He has been a busy boy, and we are starting to get into a more regular routine. I think it is good for all involved.  We usually get up about when Daddy does at 5:00.  Sometimes we get another nap after that first meal, but sometimes we don't. And that's OK.   Our new nighttime routine involves bath-time at 7:00 (on bath days) so that he can eat and drift off to sleep and maybe give Mom and Dad an hour before their 9:00 bedtime.   Jack can still usually go 4 hours at night. Sometimes we are unlucky and he gets up every 2 hours.  This is rare now.  Sometimes we are very lucky and  he'll sleep 6 to 8 hours.  Not too often, but it is a taste of things to come.  He is getting really good at holding his head up.  I think he gets bored on some days because you cannot just leave him in his bouncy seat - he cries and cries.  He went into the doctor's last...

Mom Hair

Before Mom Hair After Mom Hair Oh No! Well, I finally got tired of the hair. Actually, I usually get tired of long hair after a while, but it has not been this short in a while.  Kind of on a whim - Scott said "I saw some pictures of you with short hair and you looked nice." So I went in today to get it taken off.  I feel better.  Lighter. And I have a much shorter morning routine now.  And much shorter hair.   The only thing I did not realize until after is that I'm turning into my Mother! Oh No! (Just Kidding Mom). So for now, I have "Mom Hair" - short enough that you don't have to worry about it, or you can wear a hat. It is like long Mom Hair, but requires less brushing, and blow drying.  Cheers to Moms!

Ode To Mothers

Dear Moms, I like these two photos because they are generational.  Because this weekend is Mother's Day I wanted to make a special blog-post for moms.  All moms, but especially my Mom, and my new Other Mom. It is their first Mother's Day as grandparents. And it is my first Mother's Day ever! It is kind of a shame we have to wait so long to become Moms.  Well, the real tragedy is how long it takes for Moms to become Grandma's and Nonies so that we can appreciate what they did for us .  I am amazed at how much we take Moms for granted. And how little we understand what they have been feeling towards us all these years. You always love your mom, but you don't think about all the times they gave you love and you were too little, or too sick, or too self-absorbed (a.k.a. teenager) to give it back 100%.   Moms are always there for you because that is how big their love is.   You never realize how she felt on those first few months when you just cried and cried instea...

Six Weeks Old

Scott's Baby Picture Jack Dena's Baby Picture Jack again Well, here we are. Now We Are Six weeks old. Also, I am typing with one hand so this is slow going... We now have baby photos of both Scott and I to compare to Jack. I see a bit of both of us in him. I'm sure each lineage will be slightly biased when looking at these pictures! Any way you splice Jack's genes though, he's a cutie! Jack is doing well and achieving some "milestones" as they call them.  He follows things with his eyes. He can grasp objects near his hand, and swat at things too.  My hair is a favorite object of said grasp.  I see now why moms eventually all seem to cut their hair. . . This week has been busy for us!  Monday I went to the doctor's for my six-week checkup and I have the OK for exercise.  Which I need, badly.  Tuesday we went to have lunch with Auntie Nat and Emerson.  It was really fun for all four of us (well, five if you count Gus the Pug who was fascinated by ano...
