More August Fun

Downtown Chairs

So many things happened this month that I needed another post just to get them in (and I still don't have Duncan's 11 month photos in here yet).  That first picture is Jack, downtown, in a strange sort of spinning chair on the 16th St. Mall. It looked like fun but kind of freaked me out because it always seemed like he was about to topple out of it. The photo is from Logan's birthday, but the birthday boy got his own post!
Serious Spencer
Spencer has such an easygoing sense of humor, and a quick smile. At the same time he can be the most serious of the boys! We also find it hilarious when he answers us "uh huh". I'm not sure what makes it so funny. Maybe we are all just exhauseted!

After Logan's birthday (well, actually for part of it) he wanted to go to Walsenburg to Papa and Nonie's house so we did. We got to visit with Aunt Nettie, Uncle Marty, and Brytyn. It was really fun. I didn't take too many photos, but I did snag a cute shot of Duncan standing up on one of the chairs.

What a Smirk
The beginning of the school year means that Cub Scouts starts up in full force. Exciting news is that this year there is a program for  Kindergarten, so Logan gets to be part of the same Pack as his big brother.  Here we are at the first Pack meeting waiting for the doors of the school to be unlocked. They were so excited! Hawk Quest was there, but I haven't gotten a copy of the photo yet of the three of us with a bald eagle. I have to track down the guy who took the photo (my camera was, of course, acting up). They had a great time.

Lions and Wolves, oh my!
August is the time for the annual Pack Family Camp-out. Jack, Logan and I went to Chatfield to camp with the rest of the Pack. There was a great picnic and the boys played and played with all the other scouts. It's nice seeing them make friends so easily with other nice boys of all ages.

Jack was in charge of setting up the beds

Having a snack under the shade of a pine tree
We tried to stay overnight, but unfortunately Jack got a migraine and I decided to pack up quickly (with a headlamp, in the dark) at 11 pm to get them home (10 minutes away). But they enjoyed the camp fire and the skits and songs. Next time maybe we will be able to stay all night. The rest of the family was already home with fevers that night so it was just as well. No one did much of anything the next day!

I have a feeling more action may happen this month, but for sure stay tuned for September and someone's first birthday party!

Until next time...

Cut Out the Middle Man

I t was snack time at the Christensen house and I decided to use up some leftover cream cheese and salsa and chips (just lying around -I promise!!) Jack, as it turns out is new to the world of dipping. I used some of his crunchies and dipped it in the salsa cheese mix. He seemed to enjoy the flavor of it. I went into the kitchen to fix us both a drink and when I came back out I realized that Jack decided he'd had enough of the middle man and went right into dipping with the tools God gave him! I laughed so hard I had to share it with you! No One's Around to Catch Me... E xcep t Mom and her camera... I guess he thought it was good bean dip! He ate the rest of the bowl!!

7 Weeks Old!

All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go! Smile for Daddy! Baby, You Can Drive My Car Well, Little Jack is almost 8 weeks old now.  He has been a busy boy, and we are starting to get into a more regular routine. I think it is good for all involved.  We usually get up about when Daddy does at 5:00.  Sometimes we get another nap after that first meal, but sometimes we don't. And that's OK.   Our new nighttime routine involves bath-time at 7:00 (on bath days) so that he can eat and drift off to sleep and maybe give Mom and Dad an hour before their 9:00 bedtime.   Jack can still usually go 4 hours at night. Sometimes we are unlucky and he gets up every 2 hours.  This is rare now.  Sometimes we are very lucky and  he'll sleep 6 to 8 hours.  Not too often, but it is a taste of things to come.  He is getting really good at holding his head up.  I think he gets bored on some days because you cannot just leave him in his bouncy seat - he cries and cries.  He went into the doctor's last...

Second First: First day of School!

Well, the day finally came. It felt like we waited a long time, but the day arrived quickly nonetheless. The first day of school! Maybe it seemed to come so soon since the kids start school when they are 2 1/2 or 3 now. Guess there's more to learn than when I was a kid, LOL. It was more stressful than I thought to select a school. We visited a few local(ish) schools and finally settled on Holy Cross Lutheran Early Learning Center . It's only 15 minutes away, which is pretty close for where we live. We liked this preschool mainly because of the small size of the classes. And when we took Jack for a tour he seemed the most comfortable. So I guess in the end the choice was pretty simple - I just over worry about things most of the time. So he goes Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 - 12:00. It's an adjustment for all of us, but so far so good. Ready to Leave  That was Jack all ready to go on the first day. Eventually he'll grow into that backpack. B...
