Pinewood Derby!

Wow! Jack had his first Pinewood Derby on Saturday and what an event!

I'm not sure I have ever been to one despite all those years Robert and Dad were involved with scouting.

Jack had a lot of fun making his debut car. We kept it simple this year and went with a basic wedge shape. We helped him cut the block and he sanded and painted it. He also glued on some less subtle weight, but it does give the car a distinctive look.

We went in not really sure what to expect. There were so many people! Lots of siblings, grandparents, and parents. I think the Sibling Outlaw races had 14 heats!

They raced by Den, and Logan, Spencer, Duncan and I walked over a bit before the Tigers raced.

I could tell Jack was nervous before the first heat - his car was racing. He won his first race and was so excited. You could tell he was trying to remain calm because he was biting his lip. Cute stuff.

Logan, Duncan and I left early to get lunch ready and do you know what? Jack came home with this:

Tigers division 3rd place! He was elated and we are happy for him. Go simple car! I guess he can name it Speedy after all.

  1. I am rarely online, with my sister in hospice and with taking on many obligations with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. I have really loved seeing all of these photos today. What a wonderful family you have! Mary

Angel or Devil?

Kids. They are too funny. I had to share this one with all of you. We went to Mass today and tried to sit inside for once. Everything was great, until Jack noticed the missal in the pew had these nice orange and yellow squares or something in the illustration on the cover. He was conviced they were dominoes, but that is a word he struggles to say. So, at an especially quiet time in the Mass he looks at me and says, "damn-yous! damn-yous!" We both had a mix of embarassment and laughter. Only out of the mouth of a 2 year old! We went to the back of the church soon after that. :)

Happy Birthday Jack

Here are some photos from Jack's 2nd birthday day, and party. He was so excited he was telling everyone happy birthday! We 'filled' his room with balloons while he was sleeping. He was so excited to wake up to balloons! Jack wanted to pose with his new favorite toy - Buzz! They are still usually only separated at nighttime (too tempting to make noise all night). Oh, and that is his 'camera' smile. He uses it whenever he sees the lens pointed at him. So cheesy! Blowing out the candles on his Spiderman cake. Yes, all the other stuff is Thomas the Train. He likes what he likes. Jack wasn't about to let Emerson go home without a hug. It was a hug, not an attack. Promise!

Easter

Easter has come and gone, but finally I have some photos uploaded! We had a nice time and enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa C, Antie and Uncle John Tressell , and Uncle Robert, Aunt Natalie, and Emerson. Jack really enjoyed hunting for eggs (for a few days he asked us to hide them again so he could find them), but was a bit disappointed when they no longer had animal cracker in them. Anyway better late than never. I'll put all the photos on Flickr . :) Painting Eggs They actually sat still for three seconds! Family Photo - Easter 2011 Until next time...
