Wait, this is the kitchen?

Sorry, the original post got deleted, but I really just wanted to update. Oops!!

After noting some strange things about how our new countertops fit, we also realized that the dishwasher would not fit without some extra work.

"Ah, explains why they took the floor out below the dishwasher. "

I learned a key fact. Kitchen cabinets are 35" tall. Bathroom cabinets are 33.5" tall. So not only leftovers for the tile countertops here in the kitchen, but they went ahead and got the bulk discounts for cabinets too. No wonder there was a thick tile countertop.

So, as you can see in the photo Scott had to spend a day putting in a 1" frame to raise the countertops for the dishwasher (and the new deeper sink). This included removing the finished sections and raising them as well.

Also, because the builders were really into saving a buck, (Or I guess if previous owners redid the kitchen themselves) the blind corner cabinet isn't actually a corner cabinet. It's just a regular (bathroom) cabinet with the extra door opening covered with plywood.

Sigh

At least there's this nice useless space here. Now you know where we're going to hide our gold.

Angel or Devil?

Kids. They are too funny. I had to share this one with all of you. We went to Mass today and tried to sit inside for once. Everything was great, until Jack noticed the missal in the pew had these nice orange and yellow squares or something in the illustration on the cover. He was conviced they were dominoes, but that is a word he struggles to say. So, at an especially quiet time in the Mass he looks at me and says, "damn-yous! damn-yous!" We both had a mix of embarassment and laughter. Only out of the mouth of a 2 year old! We went to the back of the church soon after that. :)

Happy Birthday Jack

Here are some photos from Jack's 2nd birthday day, and party. He was so excited he was telling everyone happy birthday! We 'filled' his room with balloons while he was sleeping. He was so excited to wake up to balloons! Jack wanted to pose with his new favorite toy - Buzz! They are still usually only separated at nighttime (too tempting to make noise all night). Oh, and that is his 'camera' smile. He uses it whenever he sees the lens pointed at him. So cheesy! Blowing out the candles on his Spiderman cake. Yes, all the other stuff is Thomas the Train. He likes what he likes. Jack wasn't about to let Emerson go home without a hug. It was a hug, not an attack. Promise!

Easter

Easter has come and gone, but finally I have some photos uploaded! We had a nice time and enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa C, Antie and Uncle John Tressell , and Uncle Robert, Aunt Natalie, and Emerson. Jack really enjoyed hunting for eggs (for a few days he asked us to hide them again so he could find them), but was a bit disappointed when they no longer had animal cracker in them. Anyway better late than never. I'll put all the photos on Flickr . :) Painting Eggs They actually sat still for three seconds! Family Photo - Easter 2011 Until next time...
