Halloween Crew

Our team was ready to take on Halloween!   They have been watching a lot of Bob the Builder, which led to the theme for this year. For Jack and Logan at least. Jack is Bob the Builder and Logan is an excavator. His costume was fun to make! And he loves it.  Spencer has picked up where Logan left off last year and choose the ever popular Ladybug costume. Duncan wore his Batman pajamas.  I came home early with Duncan because it was getting chilly. The other boys are out having fun!

Wait, this is the kitchen?

Sorry, the original post got deleted, but I really just wanted to update. Oops!! After noting some strange things about how our new countertops fit, we also realized that the dishwasher would not fit without some extra work. "Ah, explains why they took the floor out below the dishwasher. "  I learned a key fact. Kitchen cabinets are 35" tall. Bathroom cabinets are 33.5" tall. So not only leftovers for the tile countertops here in the kitchen, but they went ahead and got the bulk discounts for cabinets too. No wonder there was a thick tile countertop.  So, as you can see in the photo Scott had to spend a day putting in a 1" frame to raise the countertops for the dishwasher (and the new deeper sink). This included removing the finished sections and raising them as well.  Also, because the builders were really into saving a buck, (Or I guess if previous owners redid the kitchen themselves) the blind corner cabinet isn't actually a corner cabinet. It's just...

IMPORTANT POST !!!! Privacy Paranoia !!!!

Hello Friends and Family, I hope everyone reads this blog, or those who do share with the occasional readers, as I don't want anyone to miss out who reads this even occasionally.   In about a week I am going to change the privacy of this blog to listed people only.  I will need your email address to add you to the list. PLEASE EMAIL ME AND LET ME KNOW !!! My privacy paranoia started a couple of month ago. While I try not to be "that kind of person" I became less-than confident in internet privacy and proceeded to remove all photos of my kids from Facebook. In fact I pretty much only read Facebook and rarely post things anymore. A couple of days ago I read an article from CatholicMom.org talking about creepy people trolling blogs on the internet for pictures of kids. I'm sure I don't have to elaborate why they do this. Anyway, I want a way to share with all of you who are far away, but I also want to be able to put up photos and not feel that creepy peop...

Step One

Hello friends and family!  As part of the renovation, I am going through the cupboards and getting rid of the things I have not used in a couple of years (!).  They are packed up for donations, and should go out this week.  Guess I had some extra stuff in the kitchen! There are a few more boxes not in the photo!! Today Scott and Gary went to Lowes for the first round of supplies. Just these should make a difference in the kitchen! Lucky for us, the tile counters seem to be attached correctly and will simply unscrew. Then out to the dumpster! Hooray!! Until next time!

Before

It has been a long time coming, but we are starting a home renovation project for my birthday. Milestones are good for something I guess!! 😂 For anyone who hasn't actually seen our house, we bought it knowing that it would need a lot of love. And we have done quite a few things over the years. Most of the projects have been for the kid's rooms. Now we are going to tackle one of the bigger eyesores: the kitchen!  We have a kitchen that is still giving us surprises. Some highlights are:  Stain over paint on the walls. The walls. We had to replace a missing drawer so it is the same style, but a different stain. You can see our special drawer on the left.  Tile countertops. And not nice tile, rather cheap bathroom tile (perhaps leftovers from the bathrooms). So gross when we got here and still hard to make really clean.  Speaking of tile countertops, we discovered today that the backsplash is directly on the drywall, leaving a...

Happy Monthday Duncan!

Wow! October 10th. Duncan is 1 month old tomorrow and it just flew by. I can't believe how much he has changed in just four weeks.  Otherwise we are all doing well. Just wanted to get this photo out!! Until next time!

3 Weeks and Counting...

Around  the tree, Around the tree, That's how you make the number three.  A learning poem that has stuck in my head with my preschoolers.  But it is what went through my mind as Duncan turns 3 weeks old. So far he is doing really well. Starting to be more awake and aware.  Jack has really come into his own as the oldest brother. He has taken on the job of Waffle Chef at breakfast. No one else dares to make waffles! Truthfully, it has been a big help and has really made a difference in the morning.  Logan and Spencer are often thick as thieves. When I am busy with Duncan, mayhem tends to ensue. This week they helped themselves to a jar of peanuts.  As you can see things are getting right back to normal. 😁 Until next time!
