In like a Lion, Out like April Showers

Greetings! Well I'm sure a bit behind. Guess I've been busy friends. Well, we all have actually. After we came home from our RSV scare, things have not slowed down one bit.  Well, maybe one bit, but no more than that!  I'll do the March and April highlights together.

The really big news in March was Jack turning FIVE. Yes, it was hard for us to believe too. Since Jack has had such a wonderful year at preschool, and the kids are all going to different school next fall, we decided to give Jack a birthday party "for real" and invite his classmates as well as his family. Jack chose to have his party at a fun indoor playground called Monkey Bizness. It was great because we had the place to ourselves, and everyone had a great time. Here are just a few of the photos from our adventures:

Is that Tarzan on the rope swing? Nah, just Jack

The Dusty Crophopper Cake is NOT a lie.
Also, Spencer grew. We took his 2 month photo and here it finally is:

Spencer, feeling good and fattening up nicely!
Three months old - what a difference!

April.  Now there's a fun month! The big news I don't have a photo for is that we welcomed our newest nephew, Keaton James Sudar on April 21st. What a cutie that one is. We were sick during his first few weeks of life, but we were able to take some food over to the Sudar's and meet him when he was a couple of weeks old. They are all doing really well and you can tell he has an older brother and sister that are really into him.

We also had a great Easter celebration in April.  Antie Tressell got to meet Spencer for the first time. Looks like she had her hands full reading to three bouncing boys:

Are you ready for this, Antie?
The boys are always excited to see Antie and Uncle John. (So are we, so if you're reading this you are always welcome to dinner if the drive back to Westminster just sounds too much for you!)

We tried a new method for dying eggs this year (yes, that I read on Pinterest). It involved using food coloring, and shaving cream or Cool Whip. When I envisioned in my mind Logan's hands going to his mouth I opted for the Cool Whip. As it turns out, Jack did it at school with the shaving cream and the dye sticks much better to the eggs (I hypothesize because it is dryer than the whipped cream). That said, it was way less time consuming (read dull) than eggs in a cup, and we will be doing this again next year.

The other big news, is that the Sudar Home in Richardson is ON THE MARKET. That's right folks, Nonie and Papa are ready to retire, sell, and move up to Walsenburg. Not in any particular order. We are really excited. Prayers are being said, St. Josephs are buried, plans are being made. It's very strange to see the house I grew up in on a realty site with strange pictures of half-empty rooms. But I'm pretty darn excited to have my parents so much closer.

Well May is a big month for us: Jack is graduating from Preschool! Stay tuned for photos of that to come.

Until next time...

Cut Out the Middle Man

I t was snack time at the Christensen house and I decided to use up some leftover cream cheese and salsa and chips (just lying around -I promise!!) Jack, as it turns out is new to the world of dipping. I used some of his crunchies and dipped it in the salsa cheese mix. He seemed to enjoy the flavor of it. I went into the kitchen to fix us both a drink and when I came back out I realized that Jack decided he'd had enough of the middle man and went right into dipping with the tools God gave him! I laughed so hard I had to share it with you! No One's Around to Catch Me... E xcep t Mom and her camera... I guess he thought it was good bean dip! He ate the rest of the bowl!!

7 Weeks Old!

All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go! Smile for Daddy! Baby, You Can Drive My Car Well, Little Jack is almost 8 weeks old now.  He has been a busy boy, and we are starting to get into a more regular routine. I think it is good for all involved.  We usually get up about when Daddy does at 5:00.  Sometimes we get another nap after that first meal, but sometimes we don't. And that's OK.   Our new nighttime routine involves bath-time at 7:00 (on bath days) so that he can eat and drift off to sleep and maybe give Mom and Dad an hour before their 9:00 bedtime.   Jack can still usually go 4 hours at night. Sometimes we are unlucky and he gets up every 2 hours.  This is rare now.  Sometimes we are very lucky and  he'll sleep 6 to 8 hours.  Not too often, but it is a taste of things to come.  He is getting really good at holding his head up.  I think he gets bored on some days because you cannot just leave him in his bouncy seat - he cries and cries.  He went into the doctor's last...

Second First: First day of School!

Well, the day finally came. It felt like we waited a long time, but the day arrived quickly nonetheless. The first day of school! Maybe it seemed to come so soon since the kids start school when they are 2 1/2 or 3 now. Guess there's more to learn than when I was a kid, LOL. It was more stressful than I thought to select a school. We visited a few local(ish) schools and finally settled on Holy Cross Lutheran Early Learning Center . It's only 15 minutes away, which is pretty close for where we live. We liked this preschool mainly because of the small size of the classes. And when we took Jack for a tour he seemed the most comfortable. So I guess in the end the choice was pretty simple - I just over worry about things most of the time. So he goes Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 - 12:00. It's an adjustment for all of us, but so far so good. Ready to Leave  That was Jack all ready to go on the first day. Eventually he'll grow into that backpack. B...
