Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jig

Great news! Spencer and I came home this afternoon. It is great to be home. After finding out he wasn't septic, we were quite relieved. He did really well on his room air breathing too.     So we are home without oxygen or antibiotics to take. He doesn't look dehydrated anymore, and he is back to looking around, cooing, and smiling.      Thank you everyone for the prayers and support. It was a really scary time for a while.      On to bigger and better things.    Until next time!!

Good News

Hello everyone! Well, after a good night sleep, Spencer is really doing great. Additionally, we received some really great test results this morning. Based on the type of bacteria that grew in his blood culture, the doctors think the sample was contaminated with bacteria from his skin. It was explained to me that this can occur when obtaining the sample is difficult, even though they clean the area. It was very difficult with Spencer. It took about 20 minutes, a few pokes, and even then they had to work to collect enough blood. So, he does not have the blood condition.  They still plan to treat him as if he did today. He will get one more dose of antibiotics, which should finish off his ear infection. Because he still has the respiratory problems, they are taking him off oxygen to see how he does. We may have to go home with oxygen again, but I'll take that if we can go home sooner.  Thank you all for your love and prayers! Until next time!!

The Road to Wellness: Spencer

Hello friends! As I write this section, Spencer has slept for nearly 6 hours - the most he has slept since Monday night (me too). I take that to mean the antibiotics are already starting to work.  They have been suctioning his nose occasionally and put him on oxygen to keep his numbers up while he sleeps.  This is all good news.  Until next time...

In like a Lion, Out like April Showers

Greetings! Well I'm sure a bit behind. Guess I've been busy friends. Well, we all have actually. After we came home from our RSV scare, things have not slowed down one bit.  Well, maybe one bit, but no more than that!  I'll do the March and April highlights together.     The really big news in March was Jack turning FIVE. Yes, it was hard for us to believe too. Since Jack has had such a wonderful year at preschool, and the kids are all going to different school next fall, we decided to give Jack a birthday party "for real" and invite his classmates as well as his family. Jack chose to have his party at a fun indoor playground called Monkey Bizness. It was great because we had the place to ourselves, and everyone had a great time. Here are just a few of the photos from our adventures:   Jack and his cousin, Emerson enjoying Monkey Bizness   Is that Tarzan on the rope swing? Nah, just Jack   The Dusty Crophopper Cake is...
