Well, the day finally came. It felt like we waited a long time, but the day arrived quickly nonetheless. The first day of school! Maybe it seemed to come so soon since the kids start school when they are 2 1/2 or 3 now. Guess there's more to learn than when I was a kid, LOL.
It was more stressful than I thought to select a school. We visited a few local(ish) schools and finally settled on Holy Cross Lutheran Early Learning Center. It's only 15 minutes away, which is pretty close for where we live. We liked this preschool mainly because of the small size of the classes. And when we took Jack for a tour he seemed the most comfortable. So I guess in the end the choice was pretty simple - I just over worry about things most of the time. So he goes Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 - 12:00. It's an adjustment for all of us, but so far so good.
Ready to Leave |
I was so impressed with Jack when we got there he was not one of the screaming crying kids. In fact, I don't even think he noticed me once the teacher said he could explore and play with any of the toys that were out. It was harder for me to leave than for him to stay. Ha!
Making Himself at Home |
When I got back to pick Jack up he was playing in the playground and had already made his first craft: Fruit Loop Necklace. Which I wore the rest of the afternoon. He was already playing "next to" other little boys so that calmed my worry that he would have trouble making friends. Well I wasn't worried so much as it's his first time around a lot of kids and I didn't know how he would take it - that's a lot of stimulation all at once.
The teacher seemed to really like him, and told me, "Jack is very independent," which my mom said was a good thing. I try to translate what they tell me by asking other teachers like Scott's mom and my mom.
Already a Gift for Mommy! |
Until Next Time...
It is also a compliment to you that Jack wasn't one of the screaming, crying kids. That is because he has the confidence that he can depend on you. I think you're a natural when it comes to this Mommy stuff. It will be a growing year for all of you. HAVE FUN,JACK!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, that's very nice of you to say! I think we will all have a great year. :)
