Well, we went to the doctor's office on Wednesday for our follow-up ultrasound and 38 week checkup and found that Baby Buzz had caught up with his weight and we did not have to induce him early! We went home relieved and thankful for all the prayers from friends and family. We happily planned how we would really finish getting ready for him to come home in a week or so. The doctor said I was not even dilated and it would be a week or so.

You know what they say about the best laid plans...

That very same night after we had been asleep for about an hour I woke up thinking, "Hmm, this can't be right..." and wondered if Baby Buzz had been sleeping on my bladder.

No. I guess God had different plans for us and we ended up going to the hospital anyway since my water had broken!

We got to the hospital just after midnight and within the hour I was hooked up to Pitocin to get the whole labor thing going, since my body had not gotten the message that it was time for the fun to start.

I made some progress in the first couple of hours and got my epidural. Then things slowed down - well stopped actually - until almost 12 hours later. Right then my pain medicine wore out and let's just say it was no fun until the doctor could get me some supplemental pain relief!

At 5:30 the doctor decided we should do some "practice" pushing to see if I could do it because the high dose meds had made my legs kind of numb. 20 minutes later she said I had to stop pushing so she could get her cape on. I couldn't see much but here's what I heard:

Scott: "Do I have time to get the camera?"
Doc: "Yes"
"Okay Dena stop pushing so I can grab my cape,"
Me: "Okay"
Doc: "Stop pushing"
Me: "I'm not!"
Nurse: "There's no time!" (pushes call button)
"We need another nurse there's a baby in here!"
Everyone else: "Wow"
Me: "What happened? What's that?"

That was a baby! Guess they weren't practice ones after all!

So, there he was! It was so awesome! We spent some time in there allowing me to recover and feel my legs again. Jack came with Grandma and Grandpa Christensen to meet Logan and we were moved to our new room for the next couple of days.

Well, we're home now and trying to get used to life with four instead of three! So far it's been going pretty well and Jack has been a real trooper and is trying really hard to be a good Big Brother.

I have put Logan's Newborn pictures on our Flickr account (see right) if you want any copies let me know I will print some up for you.

Thank you all for your prayers and support these last 9 months or so. Take care!

Until next time...

Awww....he is beautiful! Looks like his Dad, I think! The family photos are so sweet--you really should enlarge one of them and frame it. Thanks for posting these at such a busy time. I am just very happy for you and the family. These are the best days of your lives. Mary L.

  4. Yep, that sounds about right! You kinda forget about that until you are right smack dab in the middle of it, and then............."oh, yeah, THIS is what exhaustion feels like!"

Hope that Jack's fever turns out to be something small.

Angel or Devil?

Kids. They are too funny. I had to share this one with all of you. We went to Mass today and tried to sit inside for once. Everything was great, until Jack noticed the missal in the pew had these nice orange and yellow squares or something in the illustration on the cover. He was conviced they were dominoes, but that is a word he struggles to say. So, at an especially quiet time in the Mass he looks at me and says, "damn-yous! damn-yous!" We both had a mix of embarassment and laughter. Only out of the mouth of a 2 year old! We went to the back of the church soon after that. :)

Happy Birthday Jack

Here are some photos from Jack's 2nd birthday day, and party. He was so excited he was telling everyone happy birthday! We 'filled' his room with balloons while he was sleeping. He was so excited to wake up to balloons! Jack wanted to pose with his new favorite toy - Buzz! They are still usually only separated at nighttime (too tempting to make noise all night). Oh, and that is his 'camera' smile. He uses it whenever he sees the lens pointed at him. So cheesy! Blowing out the candles on his Spiderman cake. Yes, all the other stuff is Thomas the Train. He likes what he likes. Jack wasn't about to let Emerson go home without a hug. It was a hug, not an attack. Promise!

Easter

Easter has come and gone, but finally I have some photos uploaded! We had a nice time and enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa C, Antie and Uncle John Tressell , and Uncle Robert, Aunt Natalie, and Emerson. Jack really enjoyed hunting for eggs (for a few days he asked us to hide them again so he could find them), but was a bit disappointed when they no longer had animal cracker in them. Anyway better late than never. I'll put all the photos on Flickr . :) Painting Eggs They actually sat still for three seconds! Family Photo - Easter 2011 Until next time...
