Howdy Folks!
It's been a while since our last blog. We've been busier than usual this summer. Or maybe just busier than last summer.
This summer we bought a State Park Pass since there are two state parks within minutes of our house. We've visited both of them so far (once) and hope to maybe get a picnic in next Friday when Dad is home.
The first photo is from Roxborough State Park. This park is only walking/hiking trails, but it is very peaceful and the scenery is spectacular! We saw a mother deer and her fawn while we were there. We must have walked over a mile total but Jack wouldn't sit in the stroller for anything. He really loved being outdoors walking around.
We also went on a picnic with Grandma Pat and Grandad Gary to Chatfield Reservoir. I had no idea how huge it really was until we drove all around it from Titan Road back to Wadsworth. We stopped on top of the dam to have a picnic. It had a great view too. When we looked north, we could see Uncle Robert and Aunt Natalie's neighborhood. Hi guys! Jack loved walking around here too, and exploring the piles of rocks that were there. It looked like spare rocks to hole up the banks, like you see in the background of the photo.
Scott's company had an event at Elitch Gardens. Which, for those who may not know what the heck I'm talking about, is like Denver's version of Six Flags. And if you still don't get the reference...it's an amusement park!
We weren't sure what to expect but since the tickets were free we decided to go for it. They actually had a number of rides that Jack could go on. He loved the Merry Go Round. We rode in one of the chariots:
He did really well (again walking most of the way) using his monkey backpack. The stroller was there just in case, and served to hold both his and our backpacks at times.
Another ride he really liked was the trucks, which he rode on with Dad. There were actually a couple of rides he could have sat alone, but he was upset at the ticket booth when Scott and I had to go through the metal detector and he separated from us. So we didn't risk it this year. Maybe next year he'll want to try those.
We are still hoping to the get basement started soon. We ran into some complications, but I think those are worked out now. Our new goal is to be fully complete by the end of the year. In the meantime we'll just keep having fun as the weather permits!
Take care y'all!
Great pics! Jack looks just like Scott in the carousel picture! Mary
