Hard to believe a month has already gone by since Jack's first birthday! He is still doing really well and seems to be learning new stuff all the time. I will try to recount his recent accomplishments:
- Takes naps almost every day!
- Sleeps even longer at night now (7:15 is the record).
- Eats more table food - especially cheese, pasta, potatoes, and rolls.
- Runs. Climbs. Always.
- Knows the sign for "more" and tries to use "drink"
- Will take you by the hand where he wants to go.
- Helps with laundry! Tries to help with dishes.
- Understands "do you want a snack?" and runs over to the pantry to grab what he is hungry for (I keep those on a low shelf).
- Has three teeth! We think we see a fourth coming in, too.
- Weighs 17.5 lb - he'll face forward eventually!
- Loves to run around outside in the backyard.
- Likes dancing to grandma's singing flowers, but doesn't start dancing until the refrain - every time!
We like to watch him on the baby monitor when he goes to bed because sometimes he walks around, or talks to himself, waves his arms around, etc. One time we left a book in there so he lay on his stomach to read it. Eventually he rolled over to fall asleep, but kept the book in his arms. We thought it was really hilarious.
Otherwise things are really great here. We are trying to fix up our backyard into a habitable space. There are some dead trees, as well as junipers which have a smell that aggravates my migraines that need to be removed. We hope it will look nice soon and be fun for Jack to play in.
Take care!
He is a smart boy and will keep surprising you with his critical thinking! I agree about the baby monitors. When I was in Texas waiting for our 2nd g-baby, I loved to watch our older granddaughter entertain herself before she fell asleep. I would love to be a fly on the wall and watch them all day long!
