2009 Wrap-Up: Nine Months Old!

What a year it has been for the Christensen Clan! We welcomed Jack to our family, as well as our nephew Emerson Sudar. Mom and Dad Christensen moved out to Denver to be closer to us, and Nonie and Papa Sudar got to visit quite a few times! We are thankful for all the blessings we received this year and for all the people who made the year so wonderful for us.

We really enjoyed Jack's first Christmas, and so did he. We actually had 4 celebrations, which was a lot, and maybe there will be fewer next year! We had one with just the three of us, then Jack and I celebrated with a visit from Robert and Emerson. We travelled down to Texas to visit my folks, and then we came back and had Christmas with Scott's folks! What a busy few weeks that was!

Jack really loved the lights on the tree, and all the Christmas songs. He also got the hang of opening gifts and enjoyed tearing the paper. We are even more excited about next year when he will have a much better understanding of what is going on. Here are a few of our favorite photos. Unfortunately, everyone forgot a camera when we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Hopefully we'll remember next year!

Jack Really Got Into His Gifts!

Take One: Hey! Mom's Hair!

Take Two: Merry Christmas!

Jack also had his nine month checkup when we got back from Texas. Everything was great news. Here are his new stats:

Height: 27 inches
Weight: 16 pounds (on the dot!)

He is right on track with his stats, as well as with his height to weight ratio. The doctor took a look-see in Jacks mouth and said that, really, teeth should come in at any time. We can only hope. He is developing right on track and the doctor even predicted Jack may be walking by the time he is 12 months (eek!).

Here are some of the cool things Jack has started doing this month:

  • Cruising on furniture
  • Walking behind toys (like wagons)
  • Clapping his hands
  • Slapping the table
  • Rotating his hands to look at them - hey, it's the month of the hand I guess
  • Waves at people
  • Cries for Mommy more than anyone else
  • Plays with toys more
  • Puts toys in boxes and takes them out
  • Eating food he can pick up! He really likes to eat the Gerber brand cheese puffs, but he'll chew on a puff if he's really in the mood to eat.
Thanks again to everyone who made this year so special. We couldn't have done it without you!
Happy New Year!

Dena, Scott & Jack Christensen

Angel or Devil?

Kids. They are too funny. I had to share this one with all of you. We went to Mass today and tried to sit inside for once. Everything was great, until Jack noticed the missal in the pew had these nice orange and yellow squares or something in the illustration on the cover. He was conviced they were dominoes, but that is a word he struggles to say. So, at an especially quiet time in the Mass he looks at me and says, "damn-yous! damn-yous!" We both had a mix of embarassment and laughter. Only out of the mouth of a 2 year old! We went to the back of the church soon after that. :)

Happy Birthday Jack

Here are some photos from Jack's 2nd birthday day, and party. He was so excited he was telling everyone happy birthday! We 'filled' his room with balloons while he was sleeping. He was so excited to wake up to balloons! Jack wanted to pose with his new favorite toy - Buzz! They are still usually only separated at nighttime (too tempting to make noise all night). Oh, and that is his 'camera' smile. He uses it whenever he sees the lens pointed at him. So cheesy! Blowing out the candles on his Spiderman cake. Yes, all the other stuff is Thomas the Train. He likes what he likes. Jack wasn't about to let Emerson go home without a hug. It was a hug, not an attack. Promise!

Easter

Easter has come and gone, but finally I have some photos uploaded! We had a nice time and enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa C, Antie and Uncle John Tressell , and Uncle Robert, Aunt Natalie, and Emerson. Jack really enjoyed hunting for eggs (for a few days he asked us to hide them again so he could find them), but was a bit disappointed when they no longer had animal cracker in them. Anyway better late than never. I'll put all the photos on Flickr . :) Painting Eggs They actually sat still for three seconds! Family Photo - Easter 2011 Until next time...
