Raider Hater

Watching the Game with Dad That's right Raiders...Game On! We finally bought Jack his first NFL outfit. Just in time for the Big Game versus Oakland. It was nice to see a win in enemy territory. I did have to do some explaining to Scott why Jack could not "switch sides" and dress like a pirate. I think there is an understanding now! :) It was an exciting game and we will watch as many of them as we can that are televised here. Our next Gear Purchase will probably be a little 'Huskers outfit that he can wear around town on Saturdays. Once we have that his Fall Weekend Wardrobe will be complete! GO BIG RED! (OK Westminster alums reading this who may feel injured by my support of my dear husband's Cornhuskers : if the ol' Blue Jays were going to be on TV you would see Jack in a Westminster jersey, but since they are not on TV... We will get to that later.) IN OTHER NEWS: Eating has been successful and fun. So far Jack has judged as follows: 1. Rice cer...

6 Month Checkup

Hello again. I am back on track with the blogging. This week at least. Today we had our six month doctor's visit. It was a pretty good visit and the doctor answered all the questions we had (that I remembered to ask). Jack is doing really well. I had to fill out a development questionnaire and Jack is right where he should be. Time to get ready for mobility! Jack is also ready for other foods. Our doctor's feeding plan is to start with 1st food orange veggies, then move to green veggies. After we get those under our belts we can try the fruits. He said we can move right to 2nd foods once he is eating all the 1st foods and is not allergic to them. We are keeping our eyes open because Scott is allergic to some sort of preservative in dried meats (like beef jerky) so there is some precedent for food allergies already. Jack's doctor said there really weren't additives until 2nd foods, and then only some of them. Jack is growing like a weed, but he has slowed do...

Latest Update- 6 months old today!

Phew, time gets away from me it seems! There has been a lot going on since Labor Day. Tomorrow is his 6 month visit, so there will be more after that, but here is all the great things he has done. In our opinion, and yes, we're biased. 1. Sits up on his own for a while 2. Rolls, scoots, or moves backwards to get where he wants to go. 3. Gets up on his hands and toes (but stops there) 4. Loves, and I mean, loves , to eat 5. Babbles to himself, to his toys, and to us. "Da-da-da" usually, or "yum-um-um" when he's eating. 6. Smiles and laughs when he sees Daddy. 7. Smiles and laughs when he sees pictures of people he knows (or people he knows) - especially his cousin Emerson. :) 8. Fits in size 2 diapers now! 9. Drinks from a bottle (finally) 10. Fascinated by Seamus and Pokie, or any picture of a cat. 11. Knows his name fairly well. So, that is an impressive list, even if it's me talking. We think he may be getting teeth soon because he's reverted to...

Cousin Play Date

"Hey what's over there?" "Over where?" I think they are already plotting together! Jack with Uncle Robert So, this actually happened BEFORE labor day, but I am late in getting the photos up. Jack and I spent a Friday afternoon with Uncle Robert, Emerson, and Gus. We had a fun time chatting and watching the kiddos try to sit on the floor. The funniest part of the day was when Emerson sneezed and Jack laughed like it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen in his life. Remember, son, what they say about paybacks...

Labor Day Weekend

Ah, looks like they are cousins and friends! Hard to get them both smiling, but at least they are both facing forward! Well, Labor Day weekend was a blur! Luckily, Scott was able to have both Sunday and Monday off so we celebrated by ... relaxing (instead of being at work)! Also, we were excited because both sets of grandparents were in town. Nonie and Papa Sudar had come up to Walasenburg for the All-Year reunion for both Walsenburg/John Mall High school and Saint Mary High School. The party animals seemed to have a good time, but were reluctant to share the gory details - must have been some party! At any rate they came up on Sunday and a whole load of us went to breakfast: Nonie and Papa Sudar, Robert, Natalie and Emerson, Scott, Jack and I, and Grandma and Grandpa Christensen. We had a great breakfast and enjoyed watching Emerson and Jack notice each other. Most of us went to Robert's house to spend a bit more time (before Nonie and Papa had to leave for the next party!) and ...
