Dena's Baby Picture

Jack again

Well, here we are. Now We Are Six weeks old. Also, I am typing with one hand so this is slow going...

We now have baby photos of both Scott and I to compare to Jack. I see a bit of both of us in him. I'm sure each lineage will be slightly biased when looking at these pictures! Any way you splice Jack's genes though, he's a cutie!

Jack is doing well and achieving some "milestones" as they call them.  He follows things with his eyes. He can grasp objects near his hand, and swat at things too.  My hair is a favorite object of said grasp.  I see now why moms eventually all seem to cut their hair. . .

This week has been busy for us!  Monday I went to the doctor's for my six-week checkup and I have the OK for exercise.  Which I need, badly.  Tuesday we went to have lunch with Auntie Nat and Emerson.  It was really fun for all four of us (well, five if you count Gus the Pug who was fascinated by another baby in the house) Wednesday we went to Castle Rock with Grandma Pat to walk around and have lunch.  Jack got a cool plush car to play in when he can sit up.  The bottom even opens so when he can walk (run) he can be like the Flintstones and run his car all around the house.

Today we tried out an exercise class we think we are going to join. It is called Stroller Strides and a friend from Church  who also just had a baby told me about it.  It is a bunch of moms who walk (some jog - eek!) a circuit at the park with their kids in their strollers. You stop and use resistance bands for five or ten minute stretches between walks.  It was pretty cool. I was wore out by the end and I did not even do all the routines! Someone decided they were going to be hungry for most of the class.  We'll have to try to time that better next week.  It's fun because it's outside (or at the mall in the winter) and I can take Jack and meet new people.  And it's also comforting that it's not just my baby crying! It's a whole symphony of babies and toddlers crying! A sound only Moms could love. At any rate, it's just good to get out of the house at least twice a week.

This week Grandma Pat and Grandpa Gary are in town working on their new house.  It's neat to have them close, but both of us sometimes forget the other is near-by! I'm sure that will change when they move here later this year.

Well, I hope you are all doing well.  Take care. Oh - and don't forget to vote!

  1. The baby pictures are so cute! He DOES look like both of you! The exercise class sounds just perfect for so many reasons. I'm so glad that Grandpa Christensen got to come meet Jack. Have fun! Mary

  2. P.S.: I wanted to say that the picture of Jack with his finger touching his cheek is absolutely the cutest thing EVER! Mary

Angel or Devil?

Kids. They are too funny. I had to share this one with all of you. We went to Mass today and tried to sit inside for once. Everything was great, until Jack noticed the missal in the pew had these nice orange and yellow squares or something in the illustration on the cover. He was conviced they were dominoes, but that is a word he struggles to say. So, at an especially quiet time in the Mass he looks at me and says, "damn-yous! damn-yous!" We both had a mix of embarassment and laughter. Only out of the mouth of a 2 year old! We went to the back of the church soon after that. :)

Happy Birthday Jack

Here are some photos from Jack's 2nd birthday day, and party. He was so excited he was telling everyone happy birthday! We 'filled' his room with balloons while he was sleeping. He was so excited to wake up to balloons! Jack wanted to pose with his new favorite toy - Buzz! They are still usually only separated at nighttime (too tempting to make noise all night). Oh, and that is his 'camera' smile. He uses it whenever he sees the lens pointed at him. So cheesy! Blowing out the candles on his Spiderman cake. Yes, all the other stuff is Thomas the Train. He likes what he likes. Jack wasn't about to let Emerson go home without a hug. It was a hug, not an attack. Promise!

Easter

Easter has come and gone, but finally I have some photos uploaded! We had a nice time and enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa C, Antie and Uncle John Tressell , and Uncle Robert, Aunt Natalie, and Emerson. Jack really enjoyed hunting for eggs (for a few days he asked us to hide them again so he could find them), but was a bit disappointed when they no longer had animal cracker in them. Anyway better late than never. I'll put all the photos on Flickr . :) Painting Eggs They actually sat still for three seconds! Family Photo - Easter 2011 Until next time...
