You Don't Know Jack...Until Now!

Welcome to the Family Little Jack!!

Here are some of the first pictures of our son

John Preston Christensen

We went into the hospital at 7:30 Sunday night because I was having lots of contractions and I thought maybe my water broke (first timer, boy was I wrong). Either way I was in labor and got to stay at the hospital rather than being sent back home to wait it out longer.

It was going OK at first until I got my magical epidural (so awesome) at about 2:00 a.m. and then my contractions slowed down. They gave me some meds to help me out but it still took me another 12 hours or so to be ready for the big finale. I had a migraine for some of those 12 hours but thankfully, it went away before the delivery process.

Born on March 23, 2009
at 4:20 p.m.
Weight: 6 lb 5 oz
Height: 19.5 inches
So far Jack has been doing pretty well in his new environment. Mom is sore, but recovering nicely. They are both learning how to feed and it gets easier and less painful each time. :)
Jack had good APGAR scores and the pediatrician said he was doing great. He takes after his mom in that he does not like being cold, but usually is. He has has one "crying" fit where we had to go through the whole list to find the culprit. All he eventually wanted was to be with his dad walking around the room and chatting. Otherwise he's a pretty quiet baby and has a long fuse.
And, in other great news, he has a new cousin born 25 hours later! My brother Robert and his wife Natalie welcomed Emerson Joseph into the world on March 24th.
We should be going home today after both our doctors give us the OK. We'll go see how well we do at home! Scott and I are really excited to take him home and have some time with him.
We were glad to have Scott's Mom show up about 30 minutes before we went to the hospital on Sunday night. We could not have done it without her!!
Anyway, we have more pictures which we will eventually get on the computer and onto Flickr. It may have to wait out a couple of naps and feedings, so be patient.
Take care,
Dena, Scott, and Jack :)

Angel or Devil?

Kids. They are too funny. I had to share this one with all of you. We went to Mass today and tried to sit inside for once. Everything was great, until Jack noticed the missal in the pew had these nice orange and yellow squares or something in the illustration on the cover. He was conviced they were dominoes, but that is a word he struggles to say. So, at an especially quiet time in the Mass he looks at me and says, "damn-yous! damn-yous!" We both had a mix of embarassment and laughter. Only out of the mouth of a 2 year old! We went to the back of the church soon after that. :)

Happy Birthday Jack

Here are some photos from Jack's 2nd birthday day, and party. He was so excited he was telling everyone happy birthday! We 'filled' his room with balloons while he was sleeping. He was so excited to wake up to balloons! Jack wanted to pose with his new favorite toy - Buzz! They are still usually only separated at nighttime (too tempting to make noise all night). Oh, and that is his 'camera' smile. He uses it whenever he sees the lens pointed at him. So cheesy! Blowing out the candles on his Spiderman cake. Yes, all the other stuff is Thomas the Train. He likes what he likes. Jack wasn't about to let Emerson go home without a hug. It was a hug, not an attack. Promise!

Easter

Easter has come and gone, but finally I have some photos uploaded! We had a nice time and enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa C, Antie and Uncle John Tressell , and Uncle Robert, Aunt Natalie, and Emerson. Jack really enjoyed hunting for eggs (for a few days he asked us to hide them again so he could find them), but was a bit disappointed when they no longer had animal cracker in them. Anyway better late than never. I'll put all the photos on Flickr . :) Painting Eggs They actually sat still for three seconds! Family Photo - Easter 2011 Until next time...
