Weeks 34 and 35

Greetings!  I went ahead and combined last week and this week since I fell kind of behind updating. Not that there is much to update you on - still pregnant! According to What to Expect , I could start to experience vision changes due to pregnancy hormones, or dry eyes from reduced tear production.  I am not sure I would even notice vision changes at any rate.  At least they are temporary! Also, Shrimpy's head is still growing and I can totally tell by the increased frequency of bathroom trips!  He is not getting much taller, having no room left for vertical development, but he is getting chubby!  Up to about 5 pounds now, he'll keep packing them on until the big day. Which means I will too!  We went to the doctor's on Friday and all was normal.  Except they did not have power in their building.  Good thing that office had all it's exam rooms on an outside wall with windows! The waiting area was pretty dark until someone found a lantern type flashlight. It was like cam...

Week 33: Big News

Greetings from Colorado! This week, according to What to Expect , I have reached my maximum amniotic fluid volume. Now it's all baby volume that's increasing.  This is why he seems to push on more sides of me - more baby than fluid to cushion the blows!  He even has a developed enough immune system by now to protect him from really basic stuff until he gets some Mama Milk in the real world. While the photo may look eerily similar to our house, it is not.  This is Grandma Pat and Grandpa Gary's new house!  They stopped by for a speedy visit last weekend because Scott and I had seen a couple of houses we thought they would like.  And they did!  This one was a bank-owned and it was a good price.  It has a bedroom on the main level (nice) and lots of room for grandkid(s) to play inside.   Even better, the kid can walk there from our house!  They are around the circle in a cul d'sac in our development. To some this may seem daunting, but we are all excited.  I think it will ...

Week 32!

Week 32 has been a good week so far. I am getting over the bronchitis slowly but surely.  We went to the doctors again this week and all was OK except I was measuring small for 32 weeks and had been on track previously.  That meant another ultrasound! We did not expect to see Shrimpy again until he had a real name! The picture is kind of hard to make out so I put up the first one with black lines where his eyes and mouth are.  He is kind of looking up at the "camera".  He was actually facing towards my back at the time the shot was taken.  According to What to Expect , this week he's close to 4 pounds and could be up to 19 inches long.  Both Scott and I were "tall" babies - he was 20 inches and I was 21 inches, so you never know.   We finished up all of our classes, and had a tour of the hospital L&D ward. It's a nice place! Almost like a hotel.  Except for all the equipment, which reminds you it is a hospital.  The nurse said babies are usually about t...

Week 31

Sorry this one is a bit late - I've been sick with a cold since Wednesday and it is  a bad one! I am still coughing, which I never realized would be so hard with something mushing into my ribs. So the coughs are not quite as effective as they would be otherwise. Anyway...according to What to Expect ,  this week Shrimpy keeps on with the normal stuff. Gaining weight, getting taller, and growing his big brain.  He should be sleeping "longer" now and having REM sleep.  It says I may notice a pattern.  I just notice that he kicks me a lot.  Today Scott saw him kick across my belly through my shirt and sweater.  It was kind of funny! Cravings : I haven't really had one this week, but it's because I've felt icky.  Funny Things :  The whole "word choice" problems always seem to get me.  Earlier this week I was trying to as Scott if he'd seen my bookmark.  Instead I asked if he'd seen the tablecloth.  At least I am good for a laugh now and again.
