Week 13 - The End (Of Nausea) Is Near

Week 13!

This week should be near the end of the queasy phase. Things have been going pretty well.  Uneventful for the most part.  But I am hungrier and that is a good sign!

According to What to Expect, Shrimp is growing fast, the size of a peach (or this #13 billiard ball) and the head is half of the body size! And baby's vocal chords are developing. Wonder if Shrimp will be a talker...

I am starting to "thicken" if you look closely.  By that I mean no hips and it looks like I ate a whole bowl of spaghetti by myself.  Maybe in the next month there will be something to show for  in a photo!

We are trying to decide what to do in our house next, as far as getting ready for baby.  There is still a lot of work to do.  The kitchen counters need to be re-grouted (germs!) and the nursery needs to be emptied and painted.

We are also pondering how to decorate the nursery.  We are leaning towards a more neutral decor (gender neutral that is).   Like green or yellow walls, or a forest scene with Winnie-the-Pooh stuff.  But we still might wait until we find the gender and go "all in" for a boy or girl room.

Most recent favorite food:  Spinach (who knew?)

Most recent craving: Jalapeno burger

Still can't eat: Fruit - makes me feel HORRIBLE (but then again, I never really liked fruit anyway -- too sugary for my taste!)

Strange behavior: Forgetfulness and feelings of dread ("Are we ready for this life changing event?")  My friends say that is normal and they felt it too.  Better to be realistic than naive I guess.

  1. mmmmm, jalapeno burger.

What about that number 12 ball next to it? Also the same size?
But probably not the same as the cue ball on a bar table since those a little smaller so they go to the other return slot.

  2. I think #13 is a bit bigger than #12. But everyone's different so who knows! The peach was taken at any rate! :) However, this billiard ball is still a little green.

Angel or Devil?

Kids. They are too funny. I had to share this one with all of you. We went to Mass today and tried to sit inside for once. Everything was great, until Jack noticed the missal in the pew had these nice orange and yellow squares or something in the illustration on the cover. He was conviced they were dominoes, but that is a word he struggles to say. So, at an especially quiet time in the Mass he looks at me and says, "damn-yous! damn-yous!" We both had a mix of embarassment and laughter. Only out of the mouth of a 2 year old! We went to the back of the church soon after that. :)

Happy Birthday Jack

Here are some photos from Jack's 2nd birthday day, and party. He was so excited he was telling everyone happy birthday! We 'filled' his room with balloons while he was sleeping. He was so excited to wake up to balloons! Jack wanted to pose with his new favorite toy - Buzz! They are still usually only separated at nighttime (too tempting to make noise all night). Oh, and that is his 'camera' smile. He uses it whenever he sees the lens pointed at him. So cheesy! Blowing out the candles on his Spiderman cake. Yes, all the other stuff is Thomas the Train. He likes what he likes. Jack wasn't about to let Emerson go home without a hug. It was a hug, not an attack. Promise!

Easter

Easter has come and gone, but finally I have some photos uploaded! We had a nice time and enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa C, Antie and Uncle John Tressell , and Uncle Robert, Aunt Natalie, and Emerson. Jack really enjoyed hunting for eggs (for a few days he asked us to hide them again so he could find them), but was a bit disappointed when they no longer had animal cracker in them. Anyway better late than never. I'll put all the photos on Flickr . :) Painting Eggs They actually sat still for three seconds! Family Photo - Easter 2011 Until next time...
