Happy Birthday Jack

Here are some photos from Jack's 2nd birthday day, and party. He was so excited he was telling everyone happy birthday! We 'filled' his room with balloons while he was sleeping. He was so excited to wake up to balloons! Jack wanted to pose with his new favorite toy - Buzz! They are still usually only separated at nighttime (too tempting to make noise all night). Oh, and that is his 'camera' smile. He uses it whenever he sees the lens pointed at him. So cheesy! Blowing out the candles on his Spiderman cake. Yes, all the other stuff is Thomas the Train. He likes what he likes. Jack wasn't about to let Emerson go home without a hug. It was a hug, not an attack. Promise!

Two Year Checkup for Jack

Hello family and friends near, but mostly far (as we don't see you as often)! Another news update! Jack had his checkup today and for the most part he is doing really well! He's right on his growth curve, but we are still supposed to take him in for a weight check in a few months. He's 'petite' if that is the right word for a boy but very active and healthy. He came in at 22 lbs, and 33 inches tall! The only curve ball is that his umbilical hernia does not seem to be 'healing itself' as apparently many of them do. So the doctor said it's pretty likely that in a few years Jack will have to go in to get that fixed. An outpatient surgery. Fun Fun Fun! Gladly, it is not painful for him and it does not seem to bother him in any other way - he just thinks he has a huge belly button! He tried very hard to be brave, as he really really dislikes going there. Even though I tried to calm him down getting his height and weight made him a writhing crazy monster bo...

Elbows and Big Boy Beds

Greetings All! What a week we've had here! Apart from my own OB appointment (see previous post) we have been extra busy with Jack. We spent a good portion of Monday at the pediatrician because Jack wasn't moving his arm around. The night before Scott was trying to help Jack to his room after brushing his teeth and Jack decided to lift up both is feet - something kids do all the time (well, our kid does). However , this time he hurt himself. His elbow to be precise. Dislocated it! We were kind of freaked out when the doctor told us, but he also told us it is so common it has a name: Nursemaid's Elbow. [parents still having daymares about Child Services following the car home] . Then the doctor said even his daughter had it. [ parents now less freaked out ] We watched him 'relocate' (not sure the professional lingo here) his elbow right in front of us and Jack was a real trooper. I'm sure it hurt, but it was obviously already hurting quite a bit if he wasn...

17 Week Checkup

Another month, another Doctor's Visit! Everything is going well with Baby. Scott, Jack and I all went to my doctor's appointment this week and we got to hear Baby's heartbeat - 144 bpm. I am doing well (considering), and it was an uneventful checkup - but no news is good news! We are going in early August to get our 20 week ultrasound so place your bets now on Boy or Girl. I by default call Baby "him" (old school grammar), and sometimes Jack reminds me "or sister". I was looking back at old blogs and noticed that with Jack I listed some cravings and strange things I did, which I found funny to recall. I think I will add a bit of that flavor with this baby too. And here's Jack's 17 week post if you want to compare ! Cravings: raman noodles, macaroni and cheese Aversions: just like last time - juice makes my tummy hurt :( So...until next time.
