HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY JACK!!

I was actually sitting here on the night of Jack's actual birthday to write this, but the snowstorm made the power blink and my computer turned off. So I took it as a sign just to go to bed! I had a lot on my mind as I thought about the past year and all that has happened. We've come a long way with baby! So now, more than a week later... I will actually share some pictures and thoughts! First of all, Jack had a great birthday. His dad stayed home from work (well, he was puking) and we put streamers in all the doors that Jack frequented. He really enjoyed the streamers. He also enjoys balloons, so we had a bunch of those too. It seems odd that he can run around like a maniac and only one year ago he just squirmed in his baby burrito. Those days of colic seem really far away! All the things Scott and I worried about because we were 'new at this' we look back and chuckle now. He has recently started climbing, so we have to make sure there is nothing he can stand on ...

Birthday Buddies

Ready for cake Team Gift Opening! Birthday Buddies Well, it's that time of year already! This one is a little late, but I thought I would put up some nice photos of the joint birthday party we had for Jack and Emerson on the 14th. Yes, yes, it was a bit early, but there was family in town so it worked out pretty well. Everyone had a good time, especially Emerson and Jack. They were very interested in each other's gifts, which was hilarious to watch! It was fun to see them play together, and be able to share a fun birthday celebration. They even enjoyed some cake. Lots of cake on the face, but plenty of cake in the tummy! A good time was had by all. Thanks to Robert and Natalie for bringing some food, and to all our guests who joined in the fun!

Butterfly Pavilion

Today we decided to take Jack to the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster. I had been there for a class in school, and I had a hunch that both Dad and Jack would enjoy all the creepy crawly things! We had a good time looking at the bug terrariums, and Dad and Jack even got to hold Rosie, the pet tarantula. Jack seemed fond of tarantulas! Jack likes this one... Dad and Jack holding Rosie There were also some interesting sea creatures there, and you were allowed to pet them. We took advantage of this as well. Petting the Horseshoe Crab Of course, there were butterflies, in an outdoor rainforest (warm even today). He chased a few of them around, and was fascinated by the plants, and the fountain. Walking through the rainforest! A nice looking butterfly! These were just released! We also saw some of Dad's favorite bugs - scarabs, and encountered a couple of unusual specimens that have never before been catalogued! Overall, a fun day had by all! Scarabs aren't scary! Two new specim...
